Dare2bAware

Student life has many great things to offer. But at the same time you should be aware of the temptations you will encounter during this new life.

Living on your own in a new city also means that there will be no one to call you to account when you arrive home after a late night. For instance, when you decide to turn the music up loud while forgetting that the neighbors will have to get up early the next morning for a regular day at work. Or when a few hours of extra sleep seem far more appealing than that mandatory lecture. Besides these examples, you will also encounter more serious temptations such as drugs, alcohol and sex.

Living on your own will also involve managing your own income and expenditures. The DUO can lend you a helping hand, but how will you handle this responsibly?

With the slogan “Dare to be Aware” as theme of the social campaign we, the KEI-board, want to draw attention to dealing with matters such as sexuality, drugs, alcohol, and money responsibly. Next to these “Dare to be Aware” also raises awareness of social matters such as sharing a city with the citizens of Groningen.
Do you dare to face these challenges with awareness?

We will highlight this in a fun way by showing several short films throughout the entire KEI-week. First-year student “Henkie” will deal with all kinds of temptations that you as a student might also come across. Furthermore you will encounter posters and banners with the slogan “Dare to be Aware” at all events.

What can you do yourself?

“Dare to be Aware” not only tries to raise everyone’s awareness of the temptations for which student life is notorious but also encourages students to deal with these thoughtfully. Moreover, “Dare to be Aware’s” aim is to lower the threshold for people to bring up the topic of each other’s behaviour. This way we can work together to ensure that everyone has a safe KEI-week experience.
